Employees that Whistle blow - Will it get you fired?

Spread The WORD

The first time I vomited after arriving home from work was the night before my transfer from the RV office to the MNY office.  Whether it was nerves, anxiety or both is unsure but it was a scary feeling.  While in the shower bending over to grab the soap the vomit just came out of my mouth and in that same position the tears just came.  There was no feeling of sadness or being nauseous, it just all happened at the same time out of nowhere.  Scaring the crap out of myself with such a surprising reaction I began to cry harder and couldn't stop for at least fifteen minutes.  To myself, muttering over and over again that it was a new office the weirdness would stop, although unconvinced that this was so it helped me at least get to work the next morning.

Upon arrival at the new office the tears started again, chickening out using an excuse that it was because of the change to a new place, which was somewhat true but not entirely.  Just how to go about telling another person that you were waiting for the same weirdness to begin again, without sounding crazy to others as it sounded to yourself.  The receptionist, Drake, asked me a question about the front desk at the other office, which seemed odd since he already knew I hadn't been the receptionist for two months at that point.  It had to have been obvious when Drake dropped off the paychecks every other Friday to the RV office but I didn't care why he asked commented about the front at the RV just thought it was a weird question and a strange time to bring it up.

Still it's a wonder what the reasoning for treating me the way they did at the RV office was for, what was missed, did I do something wrong?  Knowing it wasn't as Dick stated in the one email about my production dropping at the RV office.  Just talking with other indexers, it was impossible to do more than four-thousand documents in an eight hour day.  In a twelve hour day it was almost impossible to really do any more than an additional eight-hundred in four hours, at that point anybody typing was completely exhausted.  It did not matter how they handed you the work, one box of five-hundred documents or two boxes with two-hundred fifty documents in each box, it took the same amount of time to do the work.

The Marijuana Incident:

As mentioned in one post, why Dick talked about the Marijuana incident during the unemployment hearing is a mystery at this point.  Reporting, in an email, to the owner of a company and the E.A.P representative suspected marijuana in the office is not misconduct.

The first time the smell of marijuana was noticed came from a manager, Ralph, who was sitting next to me on November 23.  Looking at him for about thirty seconds with a wonderment as to what this was going to be all about, shaking my head and going back to work seemed to be the best thing to do.  A little later Dick came in and was talking with Ralph and another manager, Jon, nearby and for some reason Ralph moved to the next chair over and Jon sat down in Ralph's chair.

Trying to ignore the three of them and go back to work it appeared as if Dick was intentionally trying to distract me by standing near me and than walking away.  Unable to hear what the conversation was because of my headphones, as well as not really caring I just kept on typing.  At one point I could feel Dick behind me, close enough to the nape of my neck causing a chill from the breeze he was creating.  The next song on my mp3 player was Pink's song, Most Girls and than Dick again stood with his back towards me distracting me.  Knowing that he read a Facebook post of mine from November 13th that said the following:
I posted this back in October: if a person sits around in a circle with several people, sharing the same straw to sniff coke with and calls somebody not there crazy for dancing to "genesis land of confusion". Who is screwed up?
Well a few days ago the person that gave me the initiative to post this happen to walk in while I was actually listening to Genesis' "Land of Confusion" on my mp3 player. I didn't even put the two together, it was almost as if GOD was subliminally fucking with her. For what ever reason I was in the mood to hear that song when she walked in and I turned it up loud and listened to it two or three times. It wasn't even intentional, just one of those things that happened at the right moment and it just came to me now. I don't know if she even knows about that post, but it sure would be a funny concept wouldn't it?
It was obvious Dick was just trying to just create another strange situation and maybe doing just that along with the marijuana smell really just set me off causing the first email.  The next morning after sending Dick this email before arriving to work, later that morning Dick and another female manager, DL, met with me.  To read about that conversation, click here to view the November 23rd portion of the statement to the unemployment hearing office.

On November 24th I sent Dick an email about the incident on November 23rd with the Marijuana between Ralph and some other employees, here is what is mentioned in that email about it:

What terrifies me on days about going to work is thing I hear and see when no one thinks I am listening. Wednesday I smelled weed clip in **** pocket and thought "why"?  When I went to the bathroom at 9am **** came in and I could smell that clip. When I came back in **** was standing by **** office and than they started passing it around and going out the back door. By 10am the entire office, hallway and ladies room reeked of it. I decided to turn off my headset and heard rick tell candy he was going to put some in the vent of my locker, she said "ya that's a good idea, no wait put it in that phone wallet.". That seemed to make him nervous and he said no. I think he did put some of the ash in the vent because at 4:30 I could smell it. The other day when I was given the work to finish after 9am and you did the usual follow thing, after **** left at 4pm **** kept getting up and going to the door than sitting back down. I thought maybe she was seeing if I was going to leave if she was gone?
It just seems so strange that the Administrative Law Judge actually sat there and let Dick talk about that is such a mystery.  The incident should have had nothing to do with my termination, although, on December 19th Dick brought it up again, than when I commented about how it wasn't right for somebody to have to sit there and smell it, Dick interrupted me and said, "it's my company."  Dick than said something about emailing the owner about the issues, meaning the bad production and marijuana incident, which made absolutely no sense since there was nothing misconduct about it in the first place.

Actually upon it is given some thought, Dick mentioning the marijuana incident during the unemployment hearing makes it almost appear as if Dick did terminate me for notifying him, along with the E.A.P, for suspected marijuana in the office, which would be illegal or another term for this is called....

What is amazing is how nobody wants to believe this type of behavior because their first thought is that it is a business owner. A man can be abusive to his family, people believe that but they don't want to believe that somebody runs their business in a corrupt manner.  Dick can abusive his employees and that is okay but if he gets caught beating his wife then there is a problem.

Here are a few things that Dick should add to the employee handbook that seems suitable for FT:

  1. Do you need to get high, no problem, as long as you do not opt into the health insurance you can get high in the bathroom for all management cards.  Also, while still clocked in, Dick gives permission to stand outside, smoke crack with a load of shit in your pants and make a drug deal your cell phone.
  2. If you need to have a shot of whiskey while working, just notify a manager so they can supply you with a free flask to hold it in, complements of the owner.
  3. FT will terminate any employee for contacting the owner, in writing, about any type of suspected drug incident.  FT finds that behavior inappropriate and you will be denied unemployment for such behavior.
